The lad who got stabbed is the boyfriend of a friend of mine, he's in intensive care now, but could be paralysed, they're waiting for him to wake up in the morning, under heavy sedation etc...
He is, or was a small time dealer down here, was supposed to have quit, apparently just visiting his mates in Sheffield, they claim they walked away and then one of the others ran at them and stabbed him in the neck

Sounds like the guard saved his life.
Not sure I'd want naming either if it isn't a random attack.

Yeah, lucky the guard was there, and trained.
Severed an artery and hit the top of his spine, hence why he could be paralysed from it
