Access database (could try opening it and seeing what it contains; although i suspect it's password protected).

Does the ePOS software attempt to recreate the database file if it is removed? And are there any adverse effects (would have thought it'd hold more data than just the license info) if you remove it? If not, then remove it and keep a close eye on the system (back the whole system up if you can).

I have 4 items**.mdb files

itemsA.mdb
items5.mdb
items.mdb
itemsN.mdb

The first two .mdb files lets me into the ordering screen, but the buttons dont work.

If i place one or both of the last 2 .mdb files, it brings up the licence screen. I know itemsA.mdb holds my menu files cus i opened that files in Access once. The other three i have no idea. None of them are password protected. But i need to copy the files to another computer with MS Access to see whats in them....thanks for the help Dom. Much appreciated.

he's clearly just searched google for help about the system and it's brought him here.

I've had to sign up to forums in the past for similar reasons!

I would rather lose by a mile because i built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me.

.mdb is the file extension for a Microsoft Access database.

If you've got Microsoft Access you might be able to open it up and have a pokey about to see if you can fool it into thinking it's registered.

If you don't, upload it somewhere like dropbox or cloudapp, U2U me the link and I'll have a look at it for you.

Even better just zip up the whole application.

Looks like a right bonky POS (and I don't mean point-of-sale).

Zip up the whole application and send it over here too. May be able to use a tool by red gate to roughly see what the code is doing behind the scenes. That may tell us the key generation algorithm and there be able to produce licenses.

I wonder what Kenni did in the end although he mentioned the access DBs aren't protected, so i'd have a look through those and see if that gives you any clues. Personally i'd start looking at something else and there's it's likely there isn't a fix for this.
