Off Manchester for the weekend next week, looking book a nice restaurant for the Saturday night. Any suggestions?
Staying at the Thistle Portland in Picadilly so close to there but would like a few drinks after, is there anywhere close to the hotel or is it best to head to Deansgate?
Cheers!

Indian - Akbars or East z East
Thai - Chaopraya
Job done.
For drinks head to Printworks/Deansgate/Deansgate Locks.

we went to some 'red hot buffet world' or something when we were up there. loads of different cuisines under the one roof.
loved it, bloody busy though.

There's a newer one now called Tops, nearer your hotel and had good reviews - it's a massive buffet place.

I went to their opening last month, bloody lovely. Not sure what the prices would be like though
Opening was free, eat and drink whatever you want.
Some of the food carvings were amazing.

They're both very douche baggy (full of footballers and wags/wag wannabes) but San Carlo is better food. Don Marca opposite the Hilton is also very good, they poached a chef from San Carlo.

Matter of opinion tbh.
Rosso was full of wannabes but food/cocktails were awesome.
I didn't think San Carlo was all that when I went and it was a freebie intended to promote the restaurant to hotels.

Single best dish I've get had was carpaccio of cerviche octopus at San Carlo's and that's including eating at dozens of Michelin starred and famous restaurants.
I agree on the wags territory but get past that and the food talks for itself. I love the authentic loud, brash Italian feel to the place as well

Very useful! i'm there on the 15th Sep.
On a tangent and so as not to start a new topic where is the best place for trance / house music? Group of 10 of us lads going so it has to be group friendly
Looked at Sankeys but it seems to be a bit Techno on the Sat unless there is an act on?

Not sure what kind of music it is or even if it's still open, but by far the most banging club I've ever been in is Area51. I couldn't hear a thing when I came out, ears were ringing and my organs had melted from the bass.
