What are they worth? My Papa has one and he's thinking of scrapping it, but first wants to know how much the engine is worth.
It's a really good going engine, 3 litre 24v straight 6. Done 110,000 miles and has an automatic box (if thta make any difference).
And before anyone decides to be a smart arse I know this is a corsa forum, but I'm not a member of a mercedes forum!

Am I being a smart arse telling you to look on ebay?
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MERCEDES-E-CLASS-ENGINE-E300-TD-CODE-M3GT-1999-/150735825301?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item23188e2995
I would rather lose by a mile because i built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me.

Looked at ebay mate, but the prices vary wildly so I couldn't get a base price as they're on it for £150-£700. And good man!
Maybe worth my while how taking this engine out, big bastard it is tho!

Try selling the car and engine as a breaker anyway and save the hassle. you'll need loads of tools and engine cranes and pallets to ship it etc. just let someone come take it away on a trailer.

Problem is I'm in Ireland mate. And the scrappy won't give any more than €350 for the entire car. I've got all the gear here, cranes (I also have 12 ton digger if needed) & can get a pallet. And I've got a month and a half left of my holidays, so may as well do something!

Nope, Jordan is my proper name. Papa is a term I use to describe my Dad's Dad, Granda was used to describe my Mum's Dad.
