Picked up a set of wheels earlier, and they have been sprayed black, badly. Whoever has done it has just bashed on and sprayed gloss black over the old silver paint. No primer or lacquer has touched the wheels.
The paint is just flaking off by hand/paint scrapper.
What i want to know is is there anything i can do to speed up the process?? Something that will lift the black paint off, but not lift the silver off underneath.
Got nitromors here, but thats a bit too extreme.

Thinners Nik, should work a treat. As long as the paint underneaths original you will be fine.

Try a pressure washer or compressed airline first.
Then thinners as said

Paint underneath is original, it hasn't even been keyed before the black paint was applied. Still looks fresh with the original lacquer on it. Guy i got them from said he got them like that, but he did look a bit of a tool so wouldn't be surprised if it was him that done it. Makes you wonder what goes through some people's head.
Don't have an airline or pressure washer, so will give the thinners idea a bash.
Just brush it on i take it??

Even just on a rag, have a clean one to hand so that once it starts moving the paint you can clean it off. Autopaint are only £7 for a gallon tin of thinners.

Paint thinners worked perfect, cheers for the advice. Had to use the thinners to remove the thinners though, as once it had dried, it dried black. Got the hang of it now though, keep applying it then wipe it all off in 1 go.
Original paint seems to be well too, the thinners hasn't lifted the lacquer.
