Driving back home tonight and the car started to hesitate when pressing the accelerator and seemed to struggle to pick up speed.Got it home and when i blip the throttle it still hesitated a bit and was puffing out smoke from the exhaust.My mate jumped in it with me and took it along the road and drove fine then it totally died when i went to turn it around (EML light came on ) and struggled to get it started again.Now cant get it to start at all,it turns over but wont fire up

Any ideas?

Do a blink test and see what codes it flashes up

bridge 5 and 6 on the port for the code reader, turn your ignition on and count the fault code.

more in depth step by step in tutorials on here i think

Found a paper clip and just tried to do the test and its not flashing anything up.

The EML comes on and goes off as normal when the ignition is fully turned but not so it starts up.

Checked the plugs and there all black sutted up

Tried that Jamie and nothing flashed up at all.

the eml should flash *-**, *-**, *-** (code 12) 3 times, then it will go through any stored codes 3 times before going onto the next one until it comes back to code 12 again

But nothing flashes up at all.and the paper clip is pushed in properly and is in the same pin plug holes as in that that pic in the tutorial

Can't watch the video but from what you've described it sounds the the EGR valve. If you try starting it while pressing the accelerator, does it start then die when you let it idle?

No Edd it idles ok but some times seems to hunt up and down sometimes but when i blip the throttle at low revs its a bit lumpy is the only way i can describe it but ok at high revs.

From googleing the 2 things that seem to come up that sound similar to my problems is the TPS or coilpack.

May try a coilpack first becaue the TPS looks a right swine to change.

Sorted now turned out to be the temp sensor on the thermostat housing.
