I'd be confirdent on there not being a redemption fee if the loan is long term and hes only got a year left.
Pay the loan off. Theres no point paying interest (in essence) on everything you intend to buy now.

Pay it off then get another loan with lower repayments.
This. Could pretty much half the payments and still have a grand.

I would just leave it tbh. no massive benefit of paying it off, and it ends next year anyway.

Exactly.
Steve, if you are even thinking about keeping the grand and spending it, it would be stupid not to pay it off and get another loan.
That way you still have a grand, or more, with lower monthly payments, and the extra you would be saving each month also.
Its a no brainer really.

Pay off the loan, then next months 'free'd up 200' would pay the remainder off, job done.

But he won't have a "free'd up 200" next month.

Then run around your carpet-less room with them in your hand, high up in the air, making plane noises.

While i do partly agree with this attitude, I think it's also part and parcel to explaining why the world is in it's current financial state (although the banks didn't help by giving money out to people who quite clearly shouldn't have been given it)

Initially, I figured it did, but on a fifth consideration, fair enough, it doesn't.
Did in my head
