Is there usually a limit to how much you can take out in a day?

I've read and heard that you usually need to phone up and give notice, but my money has just gone into my account and i want to go get my new car today!

I've got a car's worth over the counter in the past, needed photo ID. I phoned ahead just so it was in 50s and smaller to carry.

I work at Hsbc.

Any amount if you have BOTH cheque book and photo I.D.

If you have just ID, alot of it is branch discretion.

I've managed to withdraw £6k the same day, they did say come back later though. Was for a car at the time.

I've had £4k out from HSBC with just my bank card and driving license and a short iinterview to check I was who I said I was I haven't got or ever had a cheque book and don't know many people who have.
