I'm assuming you've got 236mm solid discs at the moment - although they could be vented.
Your options are:
1.6 Sport brakes: 256mm x 20mm discs.
2.0 XE brakes (from Astra, Cavalier, Vectra etc): 256mm x 24mm discs.
V6 brakes (from Cavalier, Calibra or Vectra): 284 or 288 mm x 25mm discs.
For all of the above you'll need callipers, carriers, discs and pads. Your current flexi hoses will work, although its wise to upgrade to braided hoses while you're there anyway.
I've used 1.6 and V6 brakes, and noticed a huge difference with the V6 ones. However, the general consensus seems to go towards using the XE ones with decent pads and discs, due to the extra weight of the V6 ones - especially on a 1.0L, where you're unlikely to need the extra stoping power.

To go along with Toms post, I've had both setups.
The V6's, you do get quite a bit of pedal travel before they bite, but, you get used to it. They do offer awsome stopping power.
The XE's have nearly the same feel as standards, although not as much stopping power as the V6's, they will be more than adequate for your 1.0L.

Ok, thanks for the replys.....
With ref to carriers i ment a bracket to fit the caliper to the hub. IF thats what you folks mean or i know some people refer to the slider or the caliper as a carrier.

The carrier will need to be changed to fit whichever calipers you go for. They usually come with the calipers.
You'd need: -
Calipers
Carriers
Discs
Pads
Braided Hoses - Although these are optional.

If you go for the 286 discs from a corsa d and 288 calipers pads & carriers from a vectra b all you need to get made is new spigot rings no need to redrill from 5 stud to 4 stud and the locating screw lines up on the disc. speak to sam at LMF, i belive he has the size of the ring you need. I havent made a note of it on my corsa but it works great and easy to get new discs from motor factors. Also try mintex 1144 pads not cheep but worth the money!

Did you have an issue with wheel weights??
I think in my case these off the astra will suit my little engine, not planning massive upgradeS in that department.
Can anyone surgest a good hose to go for??
All seem about the £60 mark so really its down to "best" make.

Why? He's driving a 1.0 corsa. Plus 50% of people seem to have issues with them, spongeyness etc.
I ran the exact brakes on my corsa and i never overheated them etc and drove like a proper nobhead

You don't need loads of stopping power on a 1 litre, it's not going anywhere fast, is it?
If anything get the 1.6 brakes or 2.0 brakes if you plan a c20xe or c20let conversion in the future.
