I've got the above engine and it keeps going through tensioner pulleys on the aux belt set up. first one collapsed and threw a belt off, second one the same and the 3rd one looks to be going the same way causing my belt to screech as it's not feeding it correctly.
Anyone in the VW camp know how as to wtf is going on here? I cannot afford to keep throwing these belts off each year

Check the alternator slip pulley. If that's seized it makes the pulley pictured jump around a jot and wears it out very quick.

Yeh check alternator clutch pully

Just bloody annoying chucking sodding money at a 98' passat
My XE ran with less problems than this sodding thing.

The PS pulley failed on my IS300, therefore kicking the belt of.
Got that changed along with the tensioner and waterpump and its sweet
|
