capsize and drop tests as this is the first boat of 13 which are going to live and work on OSV Ships (Offshore Supply Vessels) in Gas and Oil fields; working as Fast Rescue Daughtercraft. basically, they have to be virtually indestructible incase they have to go in to fetch survivors of a helicopter ditching, rig disaster etc etc

Are these like the BP 'ARC' thingies?

Was doing some work round Harding last year that involved one of these being used as a work boat (I thought that was very bizzare as its supposed to be an emergency response craft!!). It had some pretty decent endurance and speed! Zipped between oil fields during the day and back to the standby/supply vessel over night.

We made the ARRC too AK, world's biggest RIB. 32 tonne, twin fall daughter craft which is also the heaviest daughtercraft in the world. Twin deck superstructure, full operating theatre facility, non survivor boxes, twin 1000hp cat diesels into Hamilton waterjets and most importantly, fully self righting with no limitations as to area of operation-the smallest boat ever made designated as a place of safe haven!! Pretty complex shit

They're normally carried for another reason. Some of the international distress signals involve waving a paddle in a set motion so that a passing vessel/plane etc understands that you're in need of assistance but they also have them on board to pass to other boats which might be in distress. There's no way that you'd paddle this
