Do I need to sand them before filler primering?

No. The blasting creats a key. You'll need to sand down keening marks etc though.

Cheers lads.I'm doing the rest, do I need etching primer or is filler primer the same thing? (that might sound daft but found it confusing!)

you ideally want high build primer to give a smooth outcome when flatted

Filler primer is the same as high build.
It's always best to use etch on bare metal. Only need a light dusting not a full coat.

I've filler primered two now, i'll get etch for the other, take it etch is better but not the end of the world using filler? If it is I can rub it down and redo, but they are a ball ache design so would rather not!

etch acts as a sort of activator to help the coats of filler/high build primer stick to the metal and gives a little bit of resistance to corrosion! Would say probably best to take it back to bare metal to etch them first but would be ok when all painted up! To be honest if they are used reguarly they will probably need re doing in a couple of years anyway!
