I'm off for a week soon so going to refurb rims. Can't quite decide on a couple of things. I'll be gettin the paint from Halfrauds BTW...

How much primer (grey?!) will I need for all 4? 2 tall tins?
Trying to decide on silver or anthracite/grey but there's so many colours that look good Ford Mercury grey was one and Vauxhall Star silver, but would that be a bit too silvery if you get me? Would 2 500ml Tins be enough?

Not looking for a balls out job just a refresh and doing the callipers at the same time.

Im pretty sure i managed 4 wheels with 1 tin of primer.

Also, try and get lacquer from anywhere but Halfords. Its shite, very flat, and won't give off much of a shine.

The U Pol canned laquer (goldy orange can) is quite good! A little expensive but worth it!

Someone posted a good guide on what to do when painting alloys. Could anyone link me up? Tried searching.

EDIT: found this one http://www.migweb.co.uk/forums/styling-wheels-interior/502236-diy-alloy-wheel-re-furb-how-i-do.html not sure it's what I saw previously tho.

I'm doing mine in a few week, if you haven't already got a trade card get one. Saves about £1.50 per tin.

I've bought

1 x large primer
3 x normal colour
1 x large lacquer (have some left also)

That's hopefully to do 2 wheels.

I think I've underestimated the amount of paint I need

Can anyone get a trade card then? Will look into it

It might be just be but I seem to use around 3 quarters of a 500ml can of primer on one wheel. That's a 16" wheel and doing the insides too.
