I am using a dell optical mouse on a black office desk.
Every now and then it is unresponsive and I am wondering if this is due to the surface it is sitting on. IE being black it does not reflect light every well?
however I have noticed that a lot of mouse mats are black. I have never used a mouse mat with an optical mouse, only old skool roller balls.
Seems to work better on a piece of white paper.
Thoughts?

So maybe it is the light refelecting issue then. guess it's time to get a mat.

1. Your mouse is racist
2. Your mouse is also shit (I currently use two wireless optical mice on a regular basis - the Magic Mouse for my MacBook Pro and a £10 Logitech mouse from Comet, both of which work absolutely fine on my black mousepad/sofa/jeans etc.).
Edit - I use the Logitech for my netbook in case some smartass asks why I use two mice for one computer

Get a laser mouse in stead. Vastly better precision and if it's wireless will have vastly better battery life.
I use mine on a black table with no issues.

I've got a cheapy logitech (iirc it's a comet £10 special as well), it's a load of bollocks and isn't very accurate
As said, a decent laser mouse is what you're after.
