if voltage drops then yeah it will have aditional factors in the ecu to keep it working safely so i understand that bit as perhaps it keeps voltage steady etc. your dta will have voltage correction tables in it.

oh i found this when i was looking for havy duty earthing cables in case my voltage issue isnt resolved.

At best i imagine it's a regulator, or perhaps a capacitor for 'smoothing' the DC (but i would have thought you'd need a decent size capacitor, ie: larger than the casing shown, to make any difference), but i can't see it making sod all difference especially as most of the electronics in a car will work within a reasonable decent voltage range anyway.

In essence, it's about as useful as an eBay Inlet Supercharger
