but will the qualification get me anywhere?
no company will take me on at the moment cos they want either qualifications or work experience, both of which I dont have.

I'm an MCP... a lot of IT companies require at least two microsoft certificates before u even get an interview...
If you really wanna get hardcore I'd much sooner suggest a Cisco or CheckPoint certification...
Should really sit down and get another couple of modules so I have better letters...

I basically want something that will at least get me to interview stage, and get a job at the end of it. Looking on newsgroups, MCDBA seemed to be fairly well respected

Database Adminstrator? Go for a MCSA... general systems admin qualification.... only 4 exams. If you are paying yourself think they are £80 each and you just need the books which are around £100 for a set I think. Dunno cos I don't pay soz....
