You'll be pretty much opposite Cabot Circus which has cinema, restaurants, crazy golf etc
Walking distance down to the centre and harbour side where you've got more places to eat, bars, hippodrome, colston hall, arnolfini and watershed if you like arty stuff. Can also walk down Nelson Street to get there where I think all this is still

There's the Hippodrome and Colston Hall - check if there's a concert/comedy show on whilst you're down.
Other than that, there's not much else to do of an evening if you don't wanna sample the nightlife. Some decent things to do in the day of you're free though - aquarium, SS Great Britain, @Bristol (science centre).

Might have to go to the cinema and have a mooch round then. Sounds quite interesting. Will only have the evenings free. I'm guessing some of the other newbies will also be staying at the hotel so there might be a few of us to do something.
Otherwise its cinema on my own 
Lion King is on at Hippodrome so thats a no go!
