My Astra is coming off the road for a little while as it needs a fair amount of work, so my old man has offered me his Saab 9-3 Aero 'Hot' Estate as a cheap daily run about until my Astra is back on the road.
Has anyone had any experience with these? Or know anything about them? As to be honest I know sod all about them although I keep getting told it's a Vectra B underneath?
My old man knows sod all about them, so is anyone able to provide any info/links/advice on stuff I should be looking out for, common problems etc?
I believe it's a B235R 2.3 Turbo engine, it's Auto and it's done over 120k miles IIRC.
Here is a picture of the exact car if it helps, did have a front splitter when he first got it, but wouldn't go up the drive with it on.

I'm buying it either way and petrol isn't an issue, just wanted an idea if there where any common problems or issues I should keep an eye out for.

Yea it is a bit quirky inside, obvious they made planes by the fasten seatbelts sign stuck up on the roof

Brother had one on the same plate and it was pretty decent all in. Although i wouldn't say it was cheap to run and they can easily get single MPG figures if you punt it around.

has it had the oil changed recently? iirc they are a git for getting blocked strainers causing oil starvation and engine death.
might be worth whipping the sump off for a quick check and clean out just for peace of mind
