Right just got home, thought id give a quick write up of the day

arrived just after 8.30 (and being at mum and dads 10mins down the road from silverstone is bloody handy)
got told to be there for bit of brekkie, meet your instructor and then briefing at 9.30

showed up at the centre round the back of Stowe corner after a nice slow drive around the perimeter of the circuit

went through the doors and into the lower area for all the new models of Porsche to sit in, got a cheeky panorama snap for you

then went upstairs to the upper level for a nice bit of egg bacon and toast and a nice view of the handling circuit, i admit was a bit wet but quickly dried before i even got near it

then was introduced to my female instructor Gill, mid thirties brunette and pretty fit RESULT but sorry no pics, had a nice chat over breakfast then she went with me for the driver briefing downstairs, where we were told about the handling circuit, the kick plate, ice hill and the low friction circuit, all sounding and looking great fun from the intro vid (see youtube) for more idea on what i was up to
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vGFimsexvhY

then was handed the keys to a 991 Carrera S cab with PDK- whoop whoop!

after a intensive few laps round the handling circuit, Gill pushed me faster and faster, showed me a few track driving tips as she knew about my track experience was a little more than the other people there, pushed close enough to clip the grass on one of the corner exits haha , got positive feed back and was commented with "very smooth track driving skills" looking good

came back in for a breather and coke and had a chat on where to improve then went back out as the day had defo perked up

then went back out for another round of handling circuit then spent the remainder of the day on the lowe friction circuits again and pissing about, generally spinning, drifting with the PSM off great fun

driving over then came back in and noticed the wall as you come back in signed by certain well knowns in motorsport , stirling moss, adrian newey, jenson button, mark webber etc (forgot to take a picture- mug lol)

then was shown the porsche performance centre, that trains drivers for all aspects of motorsport, F1 and even plain athletes aswell as run of the mill customers (at a price of course) was shown the techniques and equipment they use, was very interesting

shown the batak machine webber and the like use by the instructor
got a 43 in 30 secs, best score out of our tour group (then told webber does 63 in 30secs....bugger lol)
also notice the bike in the small room behind the instructor (also known as the torture chamber- used to go up to temps of 50oC in prep for hot races such as bahrain where drivers spend an hour a day in the week up to a race to get used to it- fuck that)

some other equipment used and various signed motorsport photos by various drivers around the room

then finished off back upstairs for lunch with Gill and a nice steak and mash cooked by michelin star chefs mmm lovely, then sadly that was my day over, but one i wont forget in a hurry was there from 8.30 til about 1ish, hefty price tag if you want to pay yourself but great fun, although would have liked the handling circuit to be longer but then i suppose would defeat the object of about learning about the handling of your car instead of outright speed, apart from that - awesome day!
