Going to London on the 4th of Nov and instead of paying millions of pounds for return train tickets as the time we need to be down there involves going in rush hour, I think we'd be better off driving down, getting on the tube at cockfosters and saving a chunk of money.
Thing is, if we leave here at 6.30, we will arrive at cockfosters at about 8am, in rush hour!
Anyone do the same thing?

I do it at the other end coming from the South. I park in Worcester Park and get the train in from there. Travel card for the day is so much cheaper.

Well I just park in the housing area then walk 5-10 mins into the stations. It works well for me. An hours driving, Free parking and travel passes into London for three costs less than £15.

I did Northampton - high Barnett for 2 weeks. Left at 5:30 got to high Barnett at 7 and into the centre for 7:30. If I left at 6 was stuck in traffics for an hour on the m1/m25
High Barnett 4.50 for a day parking.

Was going to say. No need to drive right into inner M25. Park at larger station on route, although you still got the whole rush hour rip off thing.
