How much should it cost? rough guide to supply and change the wiper mechanism.
Trying to prove that a colleague gets ripped off everytime he uses the garage on our industrial estate

£25-30 for parts (triple that if you want the motor too) then they'd probs bill an hours labour at whatever rate they charge which could be anything.

They definitely didn't replace the motor; just the linkage mechanism. Even if they had changed the motor, its less than £100 in parts and he got charged £400. Job is £150-£200 max, incl. motor. Less than an hour's work in fairness

Without even looking at pricing, it's kind of obvious he's been taken for a ride at the price of £400
For £400 I'd be expecting the above repair plus cambelt change and full service tbh

I paid £800(ish) for a clutch and dual mass flywheel change at another independent, reputable dealer; he was worried his might go after mine went so had this garage do it and they charged him £1200. He won't listen though

According to eBay a wiper rack is roughly £90, it's an hours work maximum. So whatever the garages hourly rate is then + vat. £400 is defo over the odds.
