What are peoples opinion on Autotrader these days?

I never really look at it, but I guess folk that arent really into cars (that dont know about Piston Heads etc) will still head to there first?

Worth paying for an advert these days?

On anther topic - anyone know of FREE ebay listing days (for cars) in the near future?

When selling my Civic I had it listed on PH for 3weeks I think, and it cost about 9quid.

AT wanted over £40 for a two week slot on their website.

I think it's still the most popular for buyers though, PH interest seems to be mostly car enthusiasts but I think that's changing based on the type of cars popping up there now.

Yeah of course, it's my first port of call before PH. I find with PH most cars are more enthusiast owned so generally it means they're higher priced (and not necessarily in better condition anyway).

Ive had a few cars ive bought to sell recently and tried to avoid Auto Trader due to it being a bit pricey. If the cars hung around, stuck it on there normally gone before the advert has expired.

My record sale is still on ebay. Sold a car 8mins after listing it. Doesn't even normally populate the search in that kind of time!

When I want a car I look on AT and eBay usually.

Selling, just eBay.

The vast majority of people head straight for AutoTrader, myself included. Hence the premium.

I found my Vectra through Autotrader...

I was browsing AT, PH and eBay when looking for one.

for advertising, it seemed more car sales places will use AT, more private and enthusiastic sellers will use PH, and a mix of allsorts will use eBay.

Auto Trader still has its place, listed a car on there back in july, sold within 12 hours and had 4/5 calls about it, if that had been Piston Heads i would have had 46 emails with 43 part exchange requests...

Yeah AT is usually the first port of call. I always forget about PH.

Never bought or sold a car via AT. Always Gumtree these days.

Suppose it all depends on the car and price. Ive looked on AT when buying, normally put in budget and distance, and take it from there. But never found anything that i was after.

Ive bought and sold over 25 cars, and not once has any of those been via AT.

I think there's more cheap cars on AutoTrader because it's only £10 for 2 weeks if it's under £1,000

Why has nobody mentioned swapz? Probably the best car sales site on the internet.

I always sell my cars on gumtree, its by far the most popular, its the one everyone seems to be using. I've sold about 10 cars on there this year and they have all sold within a week. Plus its free.

That might just be over here though. Over here autotrader is dead.
