hi havent been on this forum in a long time but need some advice. been in to the landrover/offroad competitions of late but really want a toy again and i miss my old corsa!!!
been offered a corsa b thats already had the full redtop conversion but ideally want bigger power as it wont be a daily driver.
could anyone tell me whether the 'let' engine uses same engine mounts as the 'xe' because this would make my life so much easier as can just switch engines straight over
any information greatly appreciated, also will the gearbox need to be changed
cheers

Mounts should be the same as its pretty much the same block.
Gearbox depends if you want the 6th gear (presuming it has an F20 on the XE)
Then obviously you'd need to swap looms ECU etc.
Not sure about if the GSi shafts with the cav inner CV's are up to the job on a LET though. I'm sure someone will be able to help you on that

I'd definately upgrade shafts don't worry. Ok lads cheers for the help. I want to look around the 300bhp mark is this fairly easy to achieve? And what bhp are these engines good to without forged internals?

Depends what shafts they are using.
Most people with XE's are using the gsi shafts with cav 1.6 cvs.

ran a couple of let's on GSi shafts and been absolutely fine with regular booting it etc.
Might be different if your doing 1/4 mile strips every weekend but every day usage is perfectly fine

My mate snapped conversion shafts on a 300bhp let fine normal driving but as soon as he give it some bang shaft snapped so gsi ones would disintergrate unless its a bog let with low boost

i used gsi on 300bhp and worked fine, only upgraded for piece of mind,
i also use an f18 perfect. and f20 was fine, but the f20 5th synchro went, but lasteed a while and as there only about £30 each wasnt bad.
