I've taxed hundreds of cars on 48hr policies in the past so I reckon you'll be fine. They will email you a cover note so just print it off

If you use tempcover.com it usually gives a few quotes and shows whether each can be used to tax a car. Different companies have a different stance on it.

You could take out a policy and then cancel it within the cooling off period (if they have that)

Yeah il have a look at temp cover. Dont think it would be logical to take out policy and cancel. Deposit will be about 150 and il loose that. I'm planning on getting a full policy anyway, just didn't want to before mot and also if it passes and I wait to tax til insurance cert comes through il have to wait a few days

Didnt know there was a new law?? Yeah cars been in my name for ages but Its been a project and just finished it ready for mot. I'm pretty sure it will pass but wanted to know for definite (have an mot cert) before I go and fork out 150 deposit for full insurance. That's why I wanted to know about taxing on day insurance,if not il have to get full insurance then wait til when ever cert comes through til I can tax it

To tax it you need insurance so if your insured you have the right to tax it
