I may sound stupid,
But what about them glove you get at the petrol pumps?
Then another pair on top of normal gloves that you can't wear to protect the others?

I'm allergic to all the rubber based gloves unfortunatly.
Going to try and find the chemical guys waterproof mitt online.
Oh shit. Have you tried vinyl?
They tear much easier but can be an option.
I have terrible problems with latex so wear the nitrile ones instead as they are more flixible than vinyl.
The vitrile ones my work get in are vinyl based and seem to get the same reaction.
Bugger
How about a cotton inspection glove underneath so as to insulate your skin from the problem material?
Yeah that could be a shout !
The ones i buy for work are partly breathable with an oil resistant palm type thing
They wear out after a couple of weeks and its like £20 for 10 pairs, not bad value for money when i was paying £6 a box of nitriles every second week. (Work do supply them but i got pissed off being left with none when they ran out)

Ah ha. I'm familiar with those. Got some off a pal who is a lift engineer. He uses them all the time because they are good for working with sharp edges, rough surfaces and slippery/heavy stuff.
Good gloves, but like you say, they do cost an arm & a leg. Plus they do wear out and they aren't waterproof.
