Like the interior but nothing else, especially the colour and wheels

Rare doesn't always equal cool, if it wasn't for the stickers it would just look like an crap old 205 to those not in the know

Very nice little car. :-)

For me though, seems a little steep, plus shame about the oven door in the roof and the colour. I prefer the white ones.

Apparently the french got better specced versions than we did. We only got a twin choke, whereas the LHD models got twin carbs and a more lairy cam.

I used to know a fella who tarmac rallied a fully prepped one and he told me that the french spec Rallye in standard road trim made more horsepower than the UK GTi model.

Obviously at much higher revs and using more juice, but it still seems a little stingy not letting us have the good stuff too.

Would rather a Sorrento Green GTi. Or even the Grey colour or even Miami Blue. In Gti form.

french spec rallyes had less power than the UK GTi models, 1294cc made around 101-103bhp but the box's were silly short, i had one, motorways were a no no, 110mph was screaming its head off

Hmmm, interesting Tom. The chap I knew took his engine straight from a smashed LHD car.

It rollered at a little over 130 brake and he was of the opinion that it was untouched and standard fayre for a french model.

I had no reason to disbelieve him as he was an older chap with several cars and this was his racer that he'd built himself from the ground up.

I was rather impressed at the time and am now a little confused.

Tom, was there ever an extra special limited run version or dealer special, like the Irmscher 1300 sport Novas with twin 40s etc?

The only other thing it could have been was a German spec rallye that would have actually been a 1.9 out of the normal Gti, as the 1.3 spec rallyes didnt meet German regs for some reason, so i dont know but if it was the 1.3 it definatley wasnt standard, and the 1.3 is basically a 1.1 bored out to 1294cc so pushing horsepower as it was

And as for super special editions there would really only be the rallye, the German one is even rarer because it was the rallye shell but with the 1.9 engine

Jebus! That sounds a bit special. Wouldn't mind getting my mitts on one of them. Must be a little nut box.

Really miss my little 205. Was only a standard car but such a grin, plus it had loads of personality.
