I have a couple of half built C20xe/20xe engines and need to build one fully.
My guy has let me down - I'm handy with a spanner but I would appreciate if some experienced souls can give me some advice on how or where to start i.e any guides online/manuals etc?
I have access to pretty much 90% of tools. And I have too many spares for the engine. It's going into another Type 2 corsa B shell for a friend of mine - we are doing it together as a little project and expect problems etc but would be fun!
I know the wiring/mounts/shafts business but need to build the engine up. Its a early 20xe discpac version.
The bottom end has been built so it's just a head on block fixing.
Thanks to all who can offer any help.

That's right craig. Just bolting it up. I have a haynes manual for the xe engines so I am going to be reading through that and hopefully it will make some sense. lol.

The way I learnt was by stripping a built engine then building it back up

its too hard to explain over a forum, we also dont know the condition of the head, has it got all the valves in? new stem seals?
but if its just a case of fitting the head then make sure the top of the block and the face of the head are spotless, fit your head gasket put the head on the block and tighten the bolts in a spiral effect from the centre out for example......
8 4 1 5 9
7 3 2 6 10
tighten 25nm
then 65 degrees
then 65 degrees
then 65 degrees.
some say 90 degrees, but ive never ever had an issue with 65.
then throw your lifters in and cams.
timing belt on then jobs a gooden.

After reading this and loads of bits from Haynes manual I gave up on it lol. Seems too hard to me as i have never stripped one before. If I was to do it I would have to learn in bitesize bits.
Anyway, after I decided not to do it I went on eBay and won a c20xe coil pack type without gearbox and mani for £240. Picked it up. Looks clean, stainless rocker cover bolts, jibilee clips so hopefully looks like it was done up properly I hope.
Thanks. I will (later some time) post questions regarding the engine
Thanks for help..
