tbh, as it is, I see them half of sat, and all sunday. then mid week the boy I see 1 hour a night, the missus obviously more.

So I miss out on about 35/40 hours a week for two weeks.

I then gain bout 40/50 hours a week with them if I go offshore and don't work any overtime when I am back. Plus 2 full days off work paid.

So id actually see more of them.

Id be interesting in working on these for a few years, what sort of qualifications would you need to do offshore work?

What qualifications do you need to work onshore?

That's a bit of a daft question, theres tonnes of roles on a rig. What do you do now?

Depends on your qualifications, but as a minimum you'll need your Bosiet and Mist which is about £1000.
I'm an electrician and we need our Compex course to work offshore, not too sure on other trades

I think to address your flying fear you need to find a local small airport or landing strip and ask someone who is trying to keep their licence by doing tourist flights for cheap (basically to keep their flying hours up).
It's a way a lot of photographers do it to get cheap ariel shots of places.

But as many have said prior, think of the money to spend on your family.

How are you with holidays abroad? Have you been recently?
I used to be scared of flying, that was until I went abroad with the mrs who was hysterical and therefore my own fears were put aside so I could help her with getting to the other side - I'm now a much more confident flyer because of that experience.
