Can you tax a car at the post office using the new owners part of the V5 and a day insurance certificate ??
My mate at work recons you can, sounds abit dogee to me but its the only way I think I can do it

I'd have thought day insurance rules wouldn't allow tax to be used against it as cars without insurance now are not allowed on the road (even if parked up) - I may have that miss-understood though.

Can deffo use the new owners slip, and although day insurance probably shouldn't be allowed, I'd say the success rate relies heavily on whatever numpty you get in the post office at the time. Many a time when I've taxed in there they don't spend too much time looking at the docs in detail.

i taxed a car on saturday with the new v5 bit, MOT and a cover note from insurance as i had literally taken out the policy 10 mins before hand, had to be a proper cover note though if you cant provide a certificate of insurance.

Can't be that hard to doctor a certificate. I get mine through as a pdf in the email.
DVLA themselves have let me "show" my certificate on my phone screen before now.

Boom it's only gone and worked. 1 day insurance cert and the new keeper bit of the v5. Felt dogee as fuck but worked and its now taxed for the new owner.
