Has anybody ever lost a personal reg plate by not renewing on time? I have forgotten to renew it

I don't know what to do now. The end date was 28/02/2013.

The entitlement to this registration has expired and the rights are lost. However, if there were any mitigating circumstances as to why you were unable to apply for an extension before the expiry date, please write to DVLA Personalised Registrations, DVLA, Swansea, SA99 1DN with details.

If I write to the address with a cheque are they likely to allow me to renew it?

I believe it's pretty much a case of right to them and you get it back. I was told Dan A lost C3 RSA a year or so back but I know it's on his missus' car now so it might be worth giving him a u2u about it.

Just back date the cheque and form and post it. That's what I did and was fine.

I forgot to send off for mine, realised and told them i still hadnt received it back,to which they told me they hadnt received it. I had to write them a letter but I got it back thankfully . I retain them for 3 years now so i can forget about them

You won't lose it, I didn't pay one of my plates for 3 years, called up and just paid the 3 years in one hit, still got it.
