Picked myself up a Honda civic type r ep3 30th anniversary last week. It had a service about 6 weeks ago and since the service it's done about 700 miles. Was looking at buying a litre of oil so I can top it up when required. But I honestly have no idea what oil is in the car. A lot of people say you can use 0w30 or 5w30/40 or even 10w40 I just don't want to top it up with a completely different oil than to what's in it currently if that makes sense. Any advice is appreciated cheers

You can top up with different types of oil. I found the guys at OPIEOILS.co.uk great . The website it also informative, suggest you check them out.

Does the service checklist or invoice not say what oil was used? Or you could just phone the place and ask?

I run Millers CFS 5w/40 in my DC5 bud - and stick a HAMP oil filter on it.
Get in touch with VtecDirect and they can sort you out with filters - i normally get a few as they are about £7 each so may as well.
To be honest, if you don't know what oil is in there...then its possible it isn't good stuff or other such issue. I would be changing it with some fresh, good quality oil if possible. Should be 5w/40FS though.

I don't have the checklist wasn't given to me with the sale can only suggest it was misplaced. It was serviced by a Honda dealer though so wouldn't be crap oil. I'll call them on Monday see what they say

Yea it'll be 5w/40 then. Probs not a triple ester though, just regular fully synth. Millers XFS is a comparable oil
