Anyone got any experience with either of these? What's reliability like on the 500s and what they like to drive in comparison ? Think road tax is cheap on them both and I would imagine them both been good on fuel. Can't see there been many issues with the up apart from I did hear they had a noisy gear box .

I had an Up! as a courtesy car last year, was a small petrol engine. Was ok to drive, didnt notice the noisy gearbox to be honest. If your doing alot of commuting in it, I would suggest something bigger

Both great cars, but i'd say the 500 is a class above the Up (not in terms of 'class' but size wise)

The Fiat 500 is actually superb to drive in town, shame it is 100% a birds car. I feel embarrassed even being in the passenger seat.

Me and the gf have an High Up, spec is spot on and even better if you get the 350 quid cruise and parking sensor add on, heated seats are constantly on as they are good. Has enough poke and nice to drive, interior is solid and with no noises. Cant say the same about my 13 plate corsa vxr which has squeaked and rattled since day one. Havent driven a 500 so cant comment. As regards to the gearbox ive not heard anything on ours but if you were to follow the shift light the revs are super low and you can hear the engine struggling so i take no notice of the light.
Oh and the interior is surprisingly big, the gf's mum is 6'1" and she was sat fine behind me in the drivers seat.

Is it worth the extra for the high up? Am buying it for my mother , she wouldn't need cruise as she only drives local but the parking sensors is a must as she's a shit driver. What did you pay for a new one ? Ideally I wanted to get a yr old one but it can't be much more for a new one as they are asking 11 grand on private sales

kept losing oil. cut out on the motorway while in the fast lane. never did claimed mpg figures by atleast half.
it was a brand new car, think she didnt even have it a year and most of that time she was driving a panda
fiat ended up giving her money back.
shame because it was a nice car otherwise

Ex had one for 5 years, literally never seen a garage once for anything other than servicing or to replace brake pads or tyres.

Absolutely adore 500's and base spec ones look a million times nicer than the Up which looks a bit odd in its own skin. However I saw an Up black edition and I must say it was really cool! Nice wheels and trim inside was nice.
Enjoyed driving a 1.2 I've driven never felt gay driving one but then I don't tend to worry what others think

Without a word of a lie, a male bus driver blew me a kiss.
It is 100%, without a shadow of a doubt, a girls car that should not be owned by a guy. Unless it's an Abarth....

They're virtually the same size, up might even be a tiny bit bigger in some places

Missus had a 1.4 500. Was a nice car and pretty nippy. 1.2 felt dog slow.
Had a few issues but all sorted easily by fiat.
Went to look at a vauxhall Adam the other month and they feel exactly the same as the 500.

Seen a 61 plate for 6.8k with 17k . That's a 1.2 lounge ( no idea which name is better specc'd? ) has stop start . She doesn't need a quick car. What are these new? Also can you turn passenger airbag off? Cheers
