Everything seems to be working as it should but the battery light doesn't go out once fired up.

Any ideas what causes this?it just has a new alternator fitted, would it have anything to do with that?

More than likely that yes. The alternator has a connector which outputs voltage when it's running and this makes the lamp go out.

Either a dicky connection, or its been left off. At worst case - it's either the belt for the alternator is too loose (and your battery will die soon) or the rectifier module on the alternator isnt outputting the signal.

Got a multi meter? Check the battery voltage is around 14v.

If it is, Wiring fault somewhere, worth checking the grey plug that has starter, speed sensor etc wires on

Sorted now thanks it was something to do with it not connected to the 3rd pin on the back of the alternator.

Yeah as stated it's the signal wire that turns the lamp off when the alternator is turning with correct output.
