Xe leaks! Pissed me off so much recently. I've got rubber gaskets with rtv red gasket maker coated around and it still leaks! Make sure you proper dry the block and sump before you go ahead though.
I was thinking next time to try tigerseals :L Worked for any other application for me so I'll try oil based high temp next time.

Just use a 8v gasket/baffle plate.
Mines not leaked yet.

Same here, I even reused the same gasket twice.

what is it they say 'its not leaking oil, its sweating power'
oil leak came factory fitted on them, built in floor pan anti-corrosion system
and as dan said, 2.0l 8v rubber ones are the best

As posted in dragons thread in help. Use 'wellseal' doesn't set like silicon or rtv so no chance of engine failure from excess sealent. Never had a sump leak when using it.

I have the 8v baffle plate with rubber gasket and the shorter bolts torqued uo correctly and it was leaking at the front on the right :/ so a little sealer is needed.

It thickens and dries to the consistency of dried up ketchup in areas that aren't subject to oil or coolant. It's remarkably effective. I know of an engine builders that swear by it on older engines that have poor or borderline workable mating surfaces Mark.

I've found it better to go around the sump tightening about 5/6times, I nip sumps up fairly tight(possibly touch more than the 15ft lb) but because I keep going round + round the sump until feels right.

As far as actual sealants are concerned, i've always used Loctite 574. It's very effective.
