TAS on E38 has build some pretty cool cars over the years, including the W12 (2XV6 engine lupo as seen below

he's got a new daily which is pretty cool too

Yeh I would agree. Alot more realistic on a day to day basis too. I bet on the motorway at 80 or so it would be very similar in fuel due to the little 1.0 revving its bollox off.

Just to clarify, im assuming it come out of a 1.0 shell due to the engine cover*

I love the w12, remember reading the whole build thread but iv no interest in the other one.

What's the big deal, is it because it has the dsg or something?? Genuine question btw

I like it because the TFSI engine hasn't really been used as a donor yet as its quite hard to wire up.

The dsg box is rarely used either.

Modern engine and box in basic vw is my kind if car.

Its cool, but why be gay and drive about in a queer little car when you could just have something decent. Engines and effort is good, just the end result isn't my kind of car.

^ Same, it could have a Ferarri engine with a 1.0l engine cover but you'll still feel a twat driving to work and back it in.

It's nice,

But don't see what's sooo special about it?

I could buy two cars an totally transfer most of the stuff from one to the other? People do 1.8 20v conversions on these often and don't they bolt in similar to the 2.0 later lump?

The 2.0tfsi and 1.8t aren't similar, one has direct injection one doesn't.

That's the reason one is significantly harder to work with which is why this is impressive. Imo

But it's not harder to work with :/

Mount an engine, gearbox and all the gadgets to go with,
Then get the electrics working (something I bet warreng could do)

Or an I totally missing something?

I do think its cool,

Just not amazing :/

I do see what he means. As in if you have another can. You can make anything fit anything. Just cut bulkhead for space and make your own mounts. Wires, sensors, ecu can all just be moved from one to another.
Fair enough with engines. But with the dsg (dog shit gear) box it's another feat entirely!!!

The electrics are a lot harder to work with, not many aftermarket ECUs can do direct injection and the amount of sensors and associated stuff to make it work means its more than just chucking an engine and box in and splicing 3 wires.

I reckon you could count the number of TFSI converted cars on 2 hands.

This is like Warren getting that 1.9 running in a C, it's not as easy as it might seem.

As robin said, it's not like walking a xe in, it's a whole lull running canbus and a FSi, with dsg, none of which were ever designed to go near a lupo
