Thinking out aloud here really for ideas. Basically thinking of a little project for myself; main issue is I need a running one I can use odd occasion.
Other aspects are id like to do as much as I could myself so if it was simple it'd be better although not essential, also something where parts arent like rocking horse shit! Id love a classic mini but bits are too dear, I do like old golfs and stuff like that. Doesnt have to be paeticularly economical or anything either.

Have you though of an bmw e36 325? Can be picked up for not a lot, parts are plentiful and cheap, and correct wheel drive.

Whats the overall plan for the project?

I'll have a look. Plan is its a project but something I'd use and like driving and build up over years to something id love and keep. My other half would have my car so would still have access to that or push bike to work if its off road now and again. Something with interchangable parts and little upgrades would be ideal.

Can't believe it took this long for a Corsa to be suggested. But I suppose this is ///M3 Sport, after all

Seriously though, you can easily get a Corsa b for a couple of hundred quid and parts are very easy to get hold of and quite cheap. They're also stupidly easy to work on.

But then it depends on what sort of car you'd want and what you'd want to get from it. If you want a quick driver's car then maybe something else would be more appropriate, but for something you can chuck about and have a laugh with a Corsa is ideal imo.

Thought of an option, 306 gti 6. Had a 306 before and always had a soft spot for them.

edit - just looked and don't think it would be as much as a "project" as i'd like. Need something more modifiable I think.

After researching I think I've solved it. mk4 golf. always liked modified ones,so it fits the bill perfect as i'll be able to tinker about with it. Not in any rush so I can keep an eye out for a good deal/base and go from there. I could even go a different route and possibly go none runner and leave it on my dad's drive, but doubt that'll happen!
