am I right in thinking that this engine would use the same mounts as a Z20LET?

Is it 240bhp standard?

any other problems when trying to fit it?

Wouldn't the saab engine be better? b204 can be tuned to 350bhp on standard internals and bolts in

I would rather lose by a mile because i built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me.

same mounts, can run on z20let ecu too.
237bhp, 240ps can be tuned to 280/300bhp on standard internals.
but as said the saab lumps are stronger, b207r shares same block as z22se and with the right tunning can go well over 500bhp or for plain silly power see what they get from the lsj over in the usa, 1200bhp!!

I did a z20leh conversion on my mk4 van 4-5 years back,

If u keep with your f23 box then it will be straight swap, I did the conversion to fit the m32 gearbox to have 6 gears, if your doing that have to do little more work cos one different mount and need different shafts, I used shafts from a mk5 Sri turbo with z20 ell/ler engine cos they use vxr inner but mk4 outer shafts.

Mine has run faultless for the 4-5 years, been 300hp most of that time and done 15-20 track days and still on standard vxr clutch also :-)

i was always under the impression the LEH wasn't as tunable as the ZLET

if your wanting to chuck some money at it to get big bhp go for 2.2

They are both z20 engine its just the leh has oil spay bars in bottom end, no balancer shafts and forged pistons as standard making them a slightly stronger engine than the normal z20let

as above the LEH's are very tuneable a bit more so than the LET's.

Friend runs an LEH van on a GT30 and it is an unreal piece of kit! m32 box with a quaiffe, omex etc etc.... good swop! the boxes are HUGE compared to an F23 though lol

Leh has stronger pistons, throw some steel rods in it and you've got a bottom end that can take 400bhp all day.

Though I have seen z20let pistons take 500bhp...

Yea think the m32 box adds some weight but gives such a smoother gear change, so long as barings don't go in it, lol

Don't you have to run the z20let loom, ecu etc when running the leh lump in a mk4?

What have you looked at?

Sure a Scoob/M3/Evo etc would be affordable?

Most importantly will drive 1000x better than a Mk4 Astra.

U would be beta surely just going down the normal z20let route, get a tatty astra coupe turbo as donor car then u have everything u need there and sell any parts u don't need, get most of your money back, or put engine from yours in the donor car and sell on, . . . Could work out cheap conversion then, may take few weekend but u will lern a lot about your car by doing conversion yourself.

When i had my let i was told the ZLET has a stonger crank (sp) and was better and would take more on standard internals. Just what i was told thats all.

Like has been said, get a Coupe turbo for a grand. Strip that down, get everything ready, and fit the engine while you take a week off work.
