If you insure an Eunos Roadstar/MX5 and don't declare that it's an import, is this very naughty?

I guess it's like most 'providing false details' ie: like not declaring mods. If you need to claim, the insurance companies will find any term or condition to bend in order to void the claim, in which case yes I wouldn't lie about it.

Thought that too Jay but when insurance is £1100 different between non import and import the thought had crossed my mind.

Naughty or otherwise you are taking the chance yourself. Wrap it round a tree, try claim the insurance and let us know how you get on.

Funnily enough wrapping it around a tree isn't something I intentionally look to do.

Both mine were insured as jap import mx5s as they both said Mazda mx5 eunos roadster on the v5.

Eunos roadster wasn't an option with my insurer anyway so I just did what they said but declared it as imported

The cars were imports which were then modded by colt and sold in UK dealers... So technically tey are imports... I explained the car was bought new in the UK by the first owner but was a jdm car imported over... Insurer said import
