Had an invite to the HR Owen convertible weekend at their St Albans showroom, couldnt really turn down the chance of driving a 458 spider and Maserati GranCabrio. Other cars available on the day were
Ferrari California
Lamborghini Gallardo 570
2x Maserati CranCabs
Bentley SuperSport
Ferrari F12 (special guests only on that one lol)
Thanks to the HR Owen team for hosting the event, was a great way to spend a sunny weekend the 458 Spider was AMAZING !!!

SteveoBC - yeah was weekend just gone. Route was dual carriageway towards Hemel/M1, round the roundabout at Hemel and back down to St Albans.
The cars were being abused all day lol.
Didnt get a chance to go in the F12 but it sounded the nuts !! as did the F40 when it left.

My boss just traded in his California for a 458 Italia - it's a very tidy car! Would love a closer look at the F12, the 599 was always the Ferrari for me (one day, ha!)

Ed, from my short sharp drive the 458 seemed like excellent all rounder. Was comfy on the drive around, was very fast and cornered flat.
The 599 (especially GTO) is still my #1 Ferrari. just a beast !!
Chatting with a couple of the HR Owen instructors, the F12 is crazy fast but a bit scary under breaking. They were saying that breaking from 200mph the back end was too light and starting fishtailing !! wowzers lol

i thought i could hear a lambo or ferrari being given a bootful out my window, gave a nice background soundtrack to the afternoon whoever it was was going right through the rev range, must have been flying

So much want, I can't even choose a favourite.
And people say convertibles are for hairdressers as i'm not a driving god or track elitist, i'd happily drive those cars knowing that the hardtop versions are just that bit stiffer and not worry whatsoever.

Imagine driving out of there in the Alfa. You'd feel like such a peasant.
Maserati for me please.

Is the alfa not one of the rarest cars there?

Yeah I'd feel like a right pleb driving a £150k car, especially as they're so common. I mean there's 500 of them in the entire world!

The average person is just going to think that you just bought a 2 seater Alfa when you could have had a "proper" Italian car.
Just my take. Jeeeez.

I wouldn't care what the peasants thought of me if I drove past their mk4 astra in that alfa.
