Nothing like finishing work on a Friday with an empty inbox

I probably get 30-40 a day (IT Project Manager).

I try and keep my inbox below 30 items.

I read all new emails as soon as they pop up, I think its a bit OCD, I dont like having unread emails. Once read, I either file them or leave them in my inbox - most likely because I need to either reply back or complete an action.

... I hate coming back from holiday to hundred of unread emails

I get between 500 and 1000 emails per day! I've got various folders with rules set up but I am pretty much constantly on my Blackberry if I'm not sat in my office. I'm sat feeding the baby now whilst on paternity leave and answering/filing emails at the same time. I never truly get a holiday as I'm forever dealing with emails even if I'm on a beach somewhere.

If you're getting 1000 emails a day I'd say you need to sort the source of the problem rather than a filing system. How can anyone do anything apart from organise, read and action every email? Unless your job is an email answerer

The source of the problem is how busy we are all of the time and the nature of the business I'm in, always changing. I think I need a PA.
