Wouldn't they need to be knocking more than a grand off, for it to be worthwhile for you Dan?

Svm the Z3 is a great car in either form. Subframe issue is not a cracking one... They simply come off

Mine was fine though and was 10yrs old and had covered 65k.

The subframe falls off?

Sounds like ze Bavarians have really got this whole 'ultimate driving machine' thing sorted.

It's spot welded to the boot floor and they rust through and pop out so the subframe under the heavy forces rips itself off! Not good! Easy enough remedy though if you do preventative to it, just needs more welds.

It's not common like the E46 issue is, although I suspect this is directly proportionate to age and mileage (I.e a few years ago most where fine, now they seem to be popping up everywhere)

Don't think the E9x suffers any kind of issues

Madness. These seem like horrendous oversights for such performance cars.

I suppose the big lateral Gs these cars were always claimed to pull have a lot to answer for now.

It will cost £1200 privately, i've had £1100 knocked off.

Ah ha.

Do you know if the dealer would be willing to pay the garage of your choice for the repairs, plus a little off the price for you (for inconvenience and fuel costs etc) in order to negate any out of pocket expenses for yourself Dan?

Might be worth enquiring as the bill might be tax deductable for the dealer and might be a preferable choice to a discount.

Plus it wouldn't leave you out of pocket to the tune of a hundred pounds, plus expenses.

Redish normally have a 2-3 month wait, was around that when I was looking to have my inspection 1 carried out by them.

I spoke to them a week ago, was looking at end of September. Booked it in yesterday, now being done at the end of October. Will look at polybushing the rear and having braided hoses at the same time.

Is it a coupe dan? If its a convertible I would strongly recommend not poly bushing it

It's a coupe. Haven't definitely settled on poly bushes, but an extra £200 or so to do.

excuse my ignorance but what is the problem with e46's and cracking?

How do they fix them? Weld the cracks back up or plate over them?

Might start buying duff ones and repairing them

If the cracks are small enough most just weld em and grind it back. Some put plates on to prevent it happening again. Some people inject resin to strengthen the area. If its really bad the floor needs replaced.

I wouldn't go polybush personally. Hear of too many needing replaced after a year and subframe bushes aren't a small job.

The centre part between the chassis legs is a seperate section yeah
