Didnt think sealey had a warranty at all.

Not the best stuff any way really. I use mainly mac, teng, britool and some snap on.

That's a bit of a vague law, people like to chuck around quoting just that part at people in shops, trying to act clever.

Just buy another make

Not chucking anything around trying to look clever at all. If you buy something that isn't fit for purpose you're within your rights are you not to get your money back?

Worked for me several times and also took the time to go through small claims court when some clever shit manager won't play fair, also with great success.

As if you could be arsed taking a firm to court over a torx bit.

Something to do with being used on brake callipers, usually the bolts on these are held in with locktite & chances are this will snap the T40 bit on you.

I disagree with that, surely it should last longer than that?

In most cases you won't need to because a retailer will be aware that you can't sell things that break the first time you use them. But the law supports you, why not employ it?

Not suggesting he goes barrelling in quoting bits of it btw. Just don't accept that.

When I broke something like that from sealey their excuse for not replacing it/refunding etc was I might of been using a 10foot breaker bar on my 6mm Allen key socket.... Morons. Bought a super cheap set from motorfactors next door and it's put up with more shit then it should for years now.

Lesson learned.

That's the whole point, if you take something back and the smart arse shop owner/management tell you to do one. Quickly fill a claim in online, pay a fee and a strangely persuasive court summons lands on the doorstep /head office.

Suddenly you're taken seriously and they will bend over backwards to rectify your outstanding 'issues'

I sounded harsher than I meant to be,
I apologise.

My point was agreeing with gazza above, a lot of firms
Will do it to avoid agro, keep customer etc.
I also agree it should last a lot loner of course. Hassle of getting it replaced when its getting swapped for an identical one, which will probably do the same.

Everything bar the t40 is covered

and jrdn they emailed me saying that and that they might suffer regular abuse but ive emailed back saying it wasnt anywhere near a ford braking system and that surely as it was the first time I used it there must be some sort of exception

I work at a parts place, and I'm sure I've seen that t40's are excluded from sealey's warranty. I think the main reason is that bolt does fiesta, escort and Mondeo wishbone bolts among others, which are known to be an absolute pig. Most garages just cut the bolts to save time.

To be fair though, to keep the customer happy I'd just give him a new one. That way he's more likely to come back for discs/pads etc. It just makes good business sense.

The fee would cost more than buying a new t40 torx bit would
