My dad has just bought one from Jessops online.
When he turned it on the lens opened up and came out of the camera. He has set up his email and Wi-Fi etc. When he went to turn the camera off the lens stayed out and didn't retract back in to the camera.
He has tried taking battery out and putting back in, gone through a few different modes and turned on and off. I've Googled it, looked on You Tube and gone through the manual on Samsung's website.
Before getting Jessops to take it back does anyone have any ideas?

Does it move when you try to zoom/does zoom work?

He's just told me he has sorted it!
If you power off the lens stays out. If you press "home" first, the lens retracts then you can power off.
Bit naff, I would expect it to close upon powering off.
