Hey guys, a friend of mine is clearing out his garage and in it is a red mk3 astra GSi phase 2, was put in there as it has engine issues, no idea what but knowing him something serious to park it up and not bother with it. He's offered it to me and if I take it I plan on breaking it as don't have the money to invest repairing it.
What's the going rate for parts, bumper, grill, skirts etc??

Neither of those have sold which would suggest it's not worth even the 2k.
Is this one comparable?

2k aint dreaming for a mint GSi tbf.
Also, if your planning on breaking it then don't bother buying it. Let someone actually buy it to enjoy it.

Seems a crime to break one
Always really liked these. Last of the proper engined Vauxhall hot hatches.
Can't believe how cheap that last one went.

The phase twos only had a x20xe in it. Not the c20xe. Still nice cars though, better with a 3.0 like my bros old one.

@gary I'm not buying it, he wants rid and doesn't have time for it, it's something I have space for and time to break it. I'll sort him out when it's all gone.
Bens right it has a 2.0 ecotec lump.
What's would be the going price for a full car with knackered engine?

I struggled to sell my X25XE phase 2. Had a fresh mot and tax, one rear arch was rusty but not rotten. Plenty comments about it being in pretty good nick for the age and It went for £850 iirc

If it was a mint P1 and not what's basically a sport, it would fetch decent enough money but you would be waiting for the right buyer.
Buying it to break you won't make a great deal, and most of your parts sale would need to be done on the MK3OC as no1 wants bumpers and stuff these days. You hardly ever see Mk3's nowadays.
I sold my mint P1 with C25XE for £2.5k.

2k+ for an old Vauxhall that's older than some people on here, I think that's dreaming to be honest.

And being rare because something is produced in very limited numbers and is special, is completely different to something being rare purely because most of them are now sitting on a scrap heap

The phase 2's were actually produced in a limited number run.

Ahh, I see. Yuk
I thought phase two meant the second sixteen valve Astra. I take it that it actually refers to the later, gayed up version of the MK III GSi, namely the non red top version of the same bodied car.
How long was the MK III made with the C20 in it then?

91-94 for the original Gsi.

Cool. I thought for a moment there, that they had only built them for a year or something silly like that.
Such nice motors. I can never decide which I prefer, the MK II GTE, or the early MK III GSi.

I prefer the Mk3 Gsi, always have and always said it was 1 of Vauxhall's best looking car of the 90s..
Here's my old P1...
And my cousins P2. Which he still has. Had it for about 8 years, still has it, and was his brothers before him. Been off the road for a good few years.
