This very brief and not so cold, cold snap has killed my battery. It seems batteries are selling like hot cakes this past week!
Anyone else had to buy one yet?
It would be easier if batteries on E46 BMW's were in the front, rather than in the boot

Waiting for mine to die tbh so I've got an excuse to get a sealed one for the boot.

Replaced mine last week. Eurocarparts were good value.
I found it quite easy to replace in the boot, although my back didn't agree.

Mine seems to be a bit weak on cold mornings. Still starts fine but 1st crank, the ignition lights are a bit dimmer than they should be. Maybe just the cranking power of the battery as it looks to be a bit small.
Will see how long it lasts, then nip along to scrappies and grab another if it fails.

Winter always kills loads of them. I bought a new one last month for the daily, and carry Jump leads to help myself and others

Doing lots of short trips with lots of the electrics going, is the main problem because they don't get a decent charge.

I took my old battery out, it was either an original BMW battery or the previous owner had shelled out for a BMW battery. If it were the former, then it didnt do badly for 11 odd years old!

Mine seems ok. Been off the road this week and had a hand lamp plugged onto battery a lot, and it did flatten it, put the charger on it at work and the car seriously didn't like it. As soon as I connected it, wipers started, headlights flashed main beam and washer jets went off

My old diesel astra was 12 years old when I parted with it, looked like the original battery was still on there. It still cranked perfectly even in the shittiest coldest mornings. Many times I stuck the key in expecting nothing but it jsut kept on going
My new diesel Megane (well 7 years old) seems to be fine as well, but its only a 1.5 so probably doesnt need much oompf.
On the other hand, my motorbike is a nightmare. I have it out on trickle at the weekends because the charge drops otherwise and when I try to start it on a Monday morning it pops and bangs and wakes everyone up in a 2 mile radius
