The ns rear indicator light stays on . If you open the car it still stays on . If you open boot it still stays on but if you open boot and press unlock it goes off . If you shut boot and lock it the light comes back on

Does playing with the indicator stalk have any effect?

Some cars have a parking mode that leaves an indicator on if you leave stalk up or down. Something might be confused in that circuit

No indicator is off . Parking light works . I haven't changed any bulbs in it but it's not my car . I'll have another look tomorrow . Can't understand how it only comes on when boot gets shut .

does it do the same if you press the boot light pin as though its shut or only when the boot is physically shut?

I'd try disconnect the central locking module in the drivers kick panel

had something similar to this on a 3 door astra H at work before, cant remember exact fault but it turned out to be a loose earth nut behind one of the interior side panels in the boot

I have a 12v at the plug without anything on . It's on now if boot is open or shut

Try disconnecting the battery for 30mins - 1hr to reset the canbus. Fixes most gremlins in the system.

Had a few similar problems with the astravans. Bulb would be gone. Replace bulb and still not working... worked a treat to ignition off n unplug all the modules located at the nsr on the vans not sure werre on the cars though.

I'm racking my brains here. Had the same fault on an Astra/Vectra estate over a year ago now.

Can't for the life of me remember how we sorted it though

Need to look at it again in morning as it's a customers car . The ground is ok . Wasn't a relay fault was it

Plugged diagnostic in and it's got a present fault on steering column module that won't clear.

I think CIM unit which is around the steering column area.
