Heres a vid from them http://m.youtube.com/watch?feature=youtu.be&v=npI7qj5quGo&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DnpI7qj5quGo%26feature%3Dyoutu.be

I do wonder if the police ever become accountable if there was backlash from posting their addresses. However, they end up in the local papers anyway so it'll be out there eventually.
It wouldn't deter many people who commit the "offences" but I suppose it's better for the police to show they are doing something about it.

The town you live in is fine. It goes in the paper anyway.
Unless their giving out house number and street then it's fine imo

Not sure how smart this is? It wouldn't take much to get their full address and telephone number from 192.com from the name, age and street address posted by the ol' bill.
They don't publish that much detail when you go to court do they?

They post the full name and street in our local rag, age is easy to get off 192.

Ah right, thought it was just name and town; been a while since I've paid attention to any of that.

In the video there they suggest they have prosecuted people on private land. How does that work?

Doesn't bother me as I don't get drunk then drive home.
Hope they catch my uncle (met police, that is).

Is it not just ever so slightly unprofessional and a tad unethical, for an organisation and public service such as the police, to be utilising something as frivolous as twatter, as their virtual intermediary between themselves and the general public?
Strikes me as a bit tacky and far too informal, especially if they wish to be taken seriously ever again.

I think the opposite is true.
If they have done their research properly and that is what the target audience use, its a great way of communicating.

Just strikes me as a bit poofy and not as official as i've come to expect from the police and their associated authorities John.
I'm surprised it's even legal, but that aside, i'd have thought their own official website/bulletin board would be a more grown-up way of going about it.

I agree with svm . It does look very unprofessional . It should also be illegal , it's no deterrent and IMO the person at fault should be able to keep it to themselves without it been broadcasted . Not that I think drink driving is ok but the person will be dealt with accordingly anyhow . Its like the police are doing it just because they can get away with it

The article makes a good point there, they were tweeting people who have been charged with the crime. Innocent until proven guilty right?
They're just appealing to the lowest common denominator here with these sorts of popularist tactics.
