Working in the motor industry has some perks, the best being that recently my frequency of change has been increased so I change my car every 4-6 months now.
Knowing my existing car was due to be changed in May I started to look about for the replacement.
My only limitation to new car choice is that it (ordinarily) has to be;
A) Brand new
B) Taken from physical stock off the forecourt
C) Taxable list price of £40k or less
D) Only brands within the dealer group I work for (luckily all german, 'premiums' are included)
I currently have an Audi A6 2.0 TDi Black Edition Auto, I knew after 2 A6's that I fancied something other than an Audi.
Finally chose a 520d MSport Auto in the following spec;
- Space Grey Metallic
- Black dakota exclusive leather
- Media pack; professional HDD
- Sport Plus pack (19's, Harmon Kardon, Tints, Rear Spoiler)
- Black ash wood interior trim
- Ambient interior lighting
- Speed limit display
- Electric folding door mirrors
So the outgoing car;
And the new one - Will look like the below (lifted off the BMW configurator);
At the same time, I thought I would look at potential contenders to replace the girlfriends current car (Audi A4 saloon S-line) and we settled on the below. Slightly smaller than the A4 so my daughters buggy might be tight in the boot - but it fits. I wanted to Red but she opted for a standard car in white exactly as pictured. Factory order, week 19 so should arrive with us on June 2nd.
Outgoing car;
Incoming new one;
Looking forward to getting both now.

Prefer the new a6 to the 5 series, but I wouldn't say no to either
Golf is lovely. Front end looks great.
What font do you have on your plates? Looks a bit different, but nice.

The A6 Black Edition is a great car and I don't dislike it - does everything i need and can chew the miles no problem. I have Never had a 5 Series (not for my own company car) so was led by that but it had to be in the Msport trim and had to have the bigger wheels.
The font is a little smaller than normal. Its pretty subtle and we have never been pulled but it does fail MOT tests.

If I had the opportunity to change every 4 to 6 months I'd be trying everything out there in the maximum price range as well. Be stupid not to.

Thats always my intention (within reason i.e. BIK tax) but i need to keep some practicality what with a daughter etc.
I thought I would go for a cabriolet for the summer months, but aside from the space and the majority of its life being spent on motorways - the opportunity to get the roof down would be limited.
I demo'd this last weekend and just wasn't ideal.

My plates come from www.vintagepig.com. Would probably need to call to order.
Front end of the merc was about the best thing. When Isabella is a bit bigger I may get an E Coupe so won't need boot space for pushchair.
The E Saloon is a bit 'taxi/Airport transfer' IMO.

Front bumper on the Merc reminds me of the Carzone bumpers they used to do for the Corsa B

GTi looks nice. The beemer could be anything at all in their range with a 5xx badge instead of 1/2/3/4/

Really like the space grey 5 series. Mines Sophisto grey, pain to keep clean as it's almost black. How come you didn't get the visibility package with the adaptive xenons? The new 520d's can't be spec'd with the sports auto anymore can they, I love mine.
I wish mine had the HK stereo though as the standard ones pretty crap. My X6 had a standard stereo and it was so much better than in the 5.

Price. Already spent nearly £2k above my limit with that spec and AX wouldn't have been signed off
As long as the Harmon Kardon is as punchy as the Bose in the A6, I will be happy.
