So I need to update / write a new CV, I've done them in the past and there just your standard rubbish and recruiters have suggested changing this that ect ect. So has any one had a CV done by a company and are they worth the money? Want it to be a decent CV as the jobs I'm going for are a bit different to when I last used it at 19

I had mine done by Future Prospects, not sure if they are national. I didn't think they had done a particularly good job but when I showed people they all preferred that one! Having said that, I've also had people on forums offer to look over my CV before and they all made a mess of it!

What is it they actually do? Surely nobody knows your history better than yourself?
I assume it's not the layout, etc. since there's millions of templates for that already.

Probably fill it with the bullshit that your standard recruitment consultant looks for.
Actual experience and skills are probably irrelevant when you've hit the buzzwords the person who's career is solely to forward on CV's is looking for.

Just send your CV to a recruitment company that specialises in your field and let them do it
* I work in recruitment btw and am forever formatting / re writing CV's.

With all the cocaine and strippers sometimes it's hard to fit in CV review and writing but we do try our best

I believe the issue with someone else writing your CV is that the potential employer do not get an initial "feel" for you.
For example, you could be the worlds worst professional writer applying for a role that does require you to send out communications. A new employer would spot that you are rubbish with words from the way you had written your CV.
