these are due to get changed at my house, when I gave the final reading there thinking im £177 in credit, has anyone had this before ? or know how I could possibly be in credit ?

We had it then they said it was wrong and we owed £15 no idea how when it was payg. Never paid it though.

Guessing that was after you gave them a actual meter reading? Ours went up even more after meter reading

When you say pre-payment are you talking about the meter you use with a key that you add money to?
Just a bit confused with what you've said. I work for british gas and what we call a pre-pay meter is a cash key meter where a pay quarterly or monthly via direct debit is known as a Credit meter.

In that case it's very unlikely that your that much in credit. Your meter should have a meter reading and a credit amount on there too.
Ask the engineer to check when they arrive we are supposed to note down the credit on the meter and the office deal with adding it as credit on your new meter.
